Faber meets Alcantara at UFC on Fox sports 1

Urijah Faber vs Yuri Alcantara scheduled to fight in August

Urijah Faber will take his third fight of 2013 against rising star Yuri Alcantara. Faber is trying to get back into title contention after two submission wins both by rear naked choke already this year. The California Kid is very active lately as he had no other option to get some wins under his belt after his recent losses in title fights. It seems the only time he loses is in title fights and there is only so many times he can get the shot again, but he certainly is on a roll lately.

Alcantara on the other hand will feel he deserves a fight of this magnitude. He blasted his last two opponents out early on with one being wrongly overturned to a no contest due to strikes to the back of the head. This is a big step up in competitor for him but it is one he needs for us to gauge his current level. A win over Faber will put him right in with the top contenders in the UFC's bantamweight division.

UFC on Fox Sports 1 is shaping up to be a massive event for Zuffa. When the deal was announced by Lorenzo Fertita he promised the best free card the company had ever produced. The addition of this fight to the already stacked card certainly helps with that theory.
