Anderson Silva gets his chance for redemption

Silva vs Weidman 2 confirmed and set to take place on New Years event

by Jack Broadey @J3cK_b

We all know the story by now. The unbeatable Anderson Silva has in fact been beaten. I wrote a piece last month http://www.kingdommma.co.uk/2013/07/how-to-knock-superstar-off-its-perch.html
the article above mentions the challenger not only has to do the unthinkable once he has to actually shock the world twice.

Any dominant champion is going to be granted an immediate rematch. In this case Anderson Silva clearly deserves the title shot after holding on to the belt for so long. The fight was also finished on questionable terms with Anderson doing his usual job of clowning his opponent and showing no respect. This puts the new champion over very weak as all questions are about the ex champions mistakes rather than the new champion tearing the belt away. If Weidman was to successfully defend his belt in the rematch it legitimises his belt and should put him over. He will unquestionably be the best middleweight on the planet and can't possibly be regarded as a fluke job.

The rematch will go down on a stacked end of year card for the ufc on December 28. It will boast Rousey-Tate 2 as co main event for the women's title. I have no doubt it will break PPV records. If Silva can avenge his loss and regain his belt I also have no doubt we see Silva-Weidman 3. The middleweight division could be put on hold for a year whilst this situation sorts itself out. Only time will tell.
